Vintage Chinese Wooden Water/Wine Bucket
|Donor:||Lynette and Will Raap|
A piece that beautifully demonstrates how everyday objects can be constructed with elegance and quiet refinement -- the concept of "form illuminating function" that Waldorf education teaches so well. This antique Chinese Wooden Water/Wine Bucket is from Shanghai. It has a beautiful lacquered finish, with a fine patina, and it is signed on the bottom. Several Chinese "chop marks" are circled around the bucket. This bucket was used to carry water or wine...but we think it would be fantastic holding balls of colorful yarn!
The bucket is 9 7/8" high, the diameter of the bottom is 10 7/8", the diameter at the widest part is 12".
