Large Cup & Saucer "God Speed the Plow"
|Donor:||Lynette and Will Raap|
Nice gift for any farmer... perhaps an appreciation gift for the head farmer of your CSA? Perfect size for morning café-au-lait, or, a bowl of chile! The large English porcelain cup and saucer was made by Burgess and Leigh Farmers Arms. This cup has a nice gold strip down the handle. It is full of character with pictures of antique farm equipment. In 3 banners it reads GOD SPEED THE PLOUGH. The reverse has the full poem with wheat sheaves & the "Industry Produceth Wealth" banner.
The poem reads: Let the wealthy and great roll in splendour and state. I envy them not, I declare it. I eat my own lamb, my own chickens and ham. I shear my own fleece and I wear it. I have lawns, I have bowers, I have fruits, I have flowers. The lark is my morning alarmer. So jolly boys now, here's God speed the plough long life and success to the farmer.
